Hi. Now it’s more than likely that you found this post/link either by doing a search-engine search for Twitter Tips for Photographers or via Twitter itself.

Whichever way you found this post I really hope the following Twitter Tips For Photographers are helpful to you.

  1. Follow some of the people who follow you. Don’t just push out your own news, listen to your audience too.
  2. Tweet your blog posts: A great way for increasing traffic to you blog
  3. Don’t use TwitterFeed etc: Although clever, pushing out random headlines to people doesn’t make a good Twitter account
  4. Tweet when you upload new work to your Website, Flickr etc: Keep your followers up to date of your recent work.people see your recent work
  5. Be a one-stop shop for information: Re-tweet your followers’ (relevant) interesting posts.
  6. Tweet to let people know of other photographers whose work you admire: You like them so it’s likely that your followers will too.
  7. Now and then ask for a ReTweet: The more your Tweets get ReTweeted by others, the more authority Twitter will give to your account and help the chances of getting suggested.
  8. Tweet about new equipment you’ve found and love: Keep your followers in the loop.
  9. Tweet regularly: One Tweet every few weeks isn’t going to work. To find quality followers you need to Tweet great information often, up to 10 Tweets a day. – Retweet 50% of the time, Tweet your own stuff 40% and limit general interest, funny links, daily activities, etc., only 10% of the time.
  10. Don’t tweet too often!: Regular tweets are good but too many come annoying and are a sure way to turn people off
  11. Tweet photography tips and tutorials: Either your own or links to other information you have found
  12. Keep it Professional: Your business Twitter account is a reflection of your brand, don’t do anything to jeopardise it
  13. Use photography hash-tags: Like #photographer #togs #photography
  14. Use URL shorteners: Such as tinyurl.com
  15. Add yourself to directories: Such as wefollow.com
  16. Search for and Follow people you want to work with: If you’re a wedding photographer, search for Wedding Venues, Florists, Make-up Artists, Wedding Car companies in your area and follow them.

Now What?

  • Visit your Twitter Profile page and take a look at your past posts to see what you have been tweeting about?
  • Are you just following other photographers or are you also following potential clients and partners?
  • Are you interacting frequently enough?
  • Evaluate your posts and make adjustments as necessary.

Following these tips will help to build you as an expert in your field and keep you in front of and on the minds of your potential clients.
