Essex Photo WalksPhoto Walks in Essex

April sees the start of a series of photo walks I’m organizing around some of Essex’s iconic locations, with our first location being Finchingfield on Wednesday 1st April.

What is a photo walk?

You come along with your camera and meet up with myself and a few other photographers and we venture out into the area taking photographs for a few hours. I keep everything simple, with no jargon or techno speak. We finish off in a café, bar or pub etc and share and compare photographs.

The benefits of a photo walk?

If it’s an area new to you, you can get to know the area with other people who may have lived there for years. If it’s an area your more familiar with then by being with other photographers it will help you become more creative and see things from a different point of view.

What to bring?

Your camera and yourself. It can be any camera from a smart phone to a compact camera to a DSLR?

Pack one lens

If you have a DSLR just bring the one lens. Yes really! A lens such as a 20-200mm, 18-135mm or something similar will be absolutely fine. In fact it will make you a better photographer, as you will create shots you may not have done before

Reduce weight

Get rid of anything bulky like a battery pack or a camera bag. You’re better off wearing something with pockets for your spare batteries. Leave other stuff like handbags, wallet etc in the car (out of sight). Cash and keys can be left in your front pocket.

Be comfortable

We’ll be walking for few hours so wear shoes you will be comfortable in and clothing suitable for the weather. If it’s hot remember to wear sun block.

Have fun

It’s time away from work and other parts of busy life so let’s have some fun.
