Travel Photography Tips & Ideas
I’ve recently come back from a 10-day trip to New York City and a wonderful and awesome place it is.
Photography kit & equipment
Over the last couple of years when on holiday I’ve just packed my compact Canon G12 camera however as my daughter wanted to borrow it, and after all, it was New York, I decided to pack my Canon 5D Mk2, a couple of lenses (wide angle 17-40mm f4.0L and telephoto 70-200mm f2.8L) and packed it into a mid-size canvas camera bag I’d bought especially for the trip.
One thing I learned very quickly was that in New York things are either very, very high or very, very wide so it’s fair to say that I used my wide angle lens pretty much all of the time. One of the great things about New York is that there is simply so much to photograph. So within seconds of getting your camera out of your bag you’ll find loads of things to be photographing.
From skyscrapers, shopfronts, the harbour, street performers, and one of the many bridges crossing the Hudson River you could literally spend all day and all evening photographing everything that you come into contact with.
