Wedding Photography Courses

The best photography training courses in Essex, Herts and Suffolk for Wedding Photography and Portrait Photography

Beginners Wedding Photography CourseAt the weekend we ran a Beginners Wedding Photography Course which is a great workshop for anyone thinking of becoming a wedding photographer.

We also took the opportunity to use off camera flash techniques for the outdoor location photographs but what is off camera flash?

If you think using a flash kills atmosphere, leading to unpleasant stark pictures, you’re missing out on a whole world of stunning photography that flashguns can bring.

Using off camera flash can lift a lifeless wedding portrait, fill in shadows from harsh sunlight and even create dramatic colourful scenes in your photographs. And it’s not as hard, or as expensive, as you may think.

If you’re serious about making the most of your camera and don’t mind carrying an extra bit of kit, then by far the best investment you can make in your photography is buy a separate external flashgun – the sort that can be mounted on your hotshoe.

To do this, you’ll need to physically get your flash off your camera. The easiest way to do this is mount it to the top of a proper light-stand or hand-held gadget although a tripod will work – as will getting a friend to hold the light for you. The flash can be mounted on an adapter that will allow you to fit umbrellas or other light modifiers to it, and to tilt the flash to a suitable angle.

Next you’ll need to trigger the flash. You can buy a Trigger & Receiver system and there are a great choice available for different budgets. A dedicated sync lead will also work, but there’s the additional problems of trailing cables.

On the beginners wedding photography workshop we also look at ways of overcoming poor light in the church or wedding venue and look at creative lighting modes to capture unique wedding photographs.

Why not come on our next beginners wedding photography course. If however you are not successful on getting on the next wedding workshop then we do run them at various times of the year. Details of all dates are available here
