Lifestyle Photography Workshop
This week I was invited to give a Lifestyle Photography Workshop to students at Braintree Sixth Form. The group of students are currently doing photography as part of their Enrichment studies run by Chris Rowe. Working with such enthusiastic and aspiring Wedding photographers and Portrait photographers is always such a pleasure.
I wanted the students to look around them and make great use of the colours, textures and the natural lighting.
I also wanted to challenge them by getting in close to their subjects, picking up on specific details including jewellery, clothing and shoes.
The cool thing about lifestyle photography is that it’s not about posing your subject, in fact it’s anything but. Instead it’s about making the person feel comfortable, capturing their personality and making the most of the surroundings. There are many different ways in which to do this and the great thing was that each student picked up on various elements and created very different images to each other.
Next time you are photographing someone why not change your angles and the height of the camera, try different depths of field and place them in front of various backgrounds and see what you come up with.
A big well done must go out to Liam, Aimee, Hannah, Kaya, Thea, Lucy, Grace and Larane who came to the Photography Workshop, for both their fantastic contribution and also their willingness??? to be photographed. A huge thank you to Chris who invited me along and for capturing me doing my stuff! 😮
